Henri-Julien Terrace

The Henri-Julien project involved transforming a Montreal rooftop into an exceptional living space. Carried out in an occupied building, the project required meticulous planning to ensure the rooftop was supplied with materials while minimizing disruption to residents throughout the construction process.

The project was designed as a true outdoor living space, conceived to maximize the connection with the view and offer an experience tailored to different moments of daily life. The layout is organized around several distinct sections, each corresponding to specific uses—relaxation areas, gathering zones, dining areas, and more playful spaces—so that every occupant, including the youngest, can make the terrace their own according to their needs.

Although located in the heart of an urban environment, the project was designed to offer an intimate and secluded outdoor space, sheltered from the city's rhythm. Through the careful consideration of the layout, volumes, and transition zones, the terrace provides a sense of retreat and tranquility, allowing occupants to enjoy a space that is both open to the view and remarkably private—a rarity in an urban setting.
